One of the next phases of the Huntlee development in NSW’s Hunter Valley is underway with The Urban Series, a mix of one and two storey town homes, utilising spacious innovative designs on urban land footprints, all nestled around the Huntlee town centre.

“This is something new for the Hunter Valley” says Huntlee Sales Director Robert Crane. “The Urban Series is very much modelled on the world’s best town centres where residential meets retail, with everything just a short walk away.”

The need for an urban village in the Hunter Valley is very much driven by first home buyers and downsizers; in particular the growing number of professionals in the region employed in booming tourism and hospitality sectors.

At the centre of the investment bullseye are contemporary, welcoming town homes with space for couples and growing families. In immediate walking distance is the growing Huntlee town centre with its shops, cafés and services. Huntlee as a whole offers spaces to walk, cycle and workout. Within a short car trip are the major towns with a wide range of established work and education options. Then of course, there’s the magnificent Hunter Valley with its wineries, spas, restaurants, golf resorts, live events and national parks. Nearby Newcastle hosts some of the world’s most beautiful lakes and beaches, and Sydney is only two hours on the expressway.

All of this makes the Urban Series at Huntlee simply a beautifully functional place to be.

Convenience, connectedness and wellbeing are at the heart of Australia’s post-COVID lifestyle, and The Urban Series delivers with accessibility, walkability and easy living being fundamental to the project.

What will be significantly attractive to investors is the Urban Series area zoning. This allows for both residential and residential/commercial usage making this an opportunity for people who want to live and work for themselves; as well as catering to those who appreciate the benefits of living close to the local shops and services.

Already in the heart of the town is the Huntlee shopping village with 11 specialty shops, a Coles, a tavern, and even a KFC. As the town grows, more shops and services will follow, including a hardware store and gym on the horizon; as well as government-planned infrastructure like primary schools.

Following their award-winning development Ellenbrook in Perth, LWP Property Group were keen to bring their knowledge and experience to the east coast, heading a $1.5 billion investment over 20 years, itself creating over 2,500 jobs, that will make Huntlee home to over 20,000 residents.

Huntlee is not just another new housing estate, it's an entire master-planned community with residential, retail, recreational, education and social services all part of the plan.

Phase one of the Huntlee rollout is the village of Katherine's Landing, now nearing completion. Most pleasing so far is the demand from people who welcome the opportunity to live close to where they work. The Hunter Valley is a highly sought-after lifestyle mecca requiring all manner of professionals to support its tourism, hospitality and produce industries. Not to mention existing energy industry and sciences, as well as the investment in education and renewable energy technologies that is pouring into the area.

“Huntlee rates highly in satisfaction,” says Robert. “The residents love the sense of community and share the genuine excitement of a town that is truly growing.”

Perhaps it should be no surprise when in May this year, CoreLogic named North Rothbury one of Australia's top-rated suburbs with the highest 12-month value growth,1 mostly due to Huntlee’s desirability.

It's all part of the plan

The Urban Series is now selling with a mix of land, and house and land packages. Land starts at $215K, which represents a great entry-level foothold for first home buyers. House and land packages start at $735K with designs from select builders.

Yes, you're buying off the plan, but it's your plan. Ground level investors will recognise the first-mover advantage of choosing residential designs that maximise rental returns and resale; as well as the potential to work with LWP planners to bring new live/work retail opportunities to the town centre.

All the designs for the Urban Series have one thing in common: maximum space. Open-plan living areas group kitchen, dining and living into a continuous whole. Light-filled bedrooms and bathrooms belie the small land footprint.

It's a very urban way of living, not what you expect from the Hunter Valley, but judging from the interest the Urban Series is already getting, it's an idea whose time has well and truly come.
