In response to the devastation caused by the bushfires, the Real Estate Institute of Australia, together with other property groups, unveiled the Beyond the Bricks initiative.

Beyond the Bricks is a three-phase plan that aims to provide assistance to the communities affected by the calamity, said REIA president Adrian Kelly.

"Phase 1 is to provide immediate financial relief and support those most in need. Phase 2 is to help rebuild homes and lives. Phase 3 is to help restore affected communities and provide ongoing support," he said.

Around thirty major franchise groups and the Real Estate Institutes (REIs) across Australia have pledged nearly $900,000 to assist communities suffering loss and disruption from the unprecedented bushfires.

"REIA has combined with the state and territory REIs and franchise groups in putting together a comprehensive plan for the real estate industry to provide immediate financial assistance plus longer-term support for these communities," Kelly said.

Under the initiative, supporters can send their pledges to the Salvation Army, WWF, Australian Red Cross, and St. Vincent De Paul Society.

"I am confident the industry will raise several millions of dollars when others get behind this initiative over the coming weeks to assist the individuals and communities affected," Kelly said.
