He’s a property management expert who has housed over 10,000 Queenslanders over the past five years, so how is it that he now finds himself sleeping on the streets?
No, it’s not an ironic fall from grace, Brisbane-based Rental Express CEO Chris Rolls will be joining Australia’s 105,000 homeless when he takes part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
"The feedback I’ve heard from past sleepouts has been really positive, so I’m looking forward to the night and what Vinnies has in store for us,” he said. ”The reality is you don’t accommodate as many people as we do without considering the other side of the coin.
"One in every 200 Australians is homeless and a quarter of those are under the age of 18. It’s something that’s increasing confronting as we approach the coldest nights of the year."
Among the business and community leaders that will be taking part in the nationwide sleepout on Thursday 21 June are former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Westpac CEO Gail Kelly, Domino’s Pizza CEO Don Meij, Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale and Melbourne Storm CEO Ron Gauci.
