Darwin's foreshore is preparing for a makeover with the construction of the Waterfront and Convention Centre. The project by the Toga Group will redefine the city as an international destination adding new commercial growth as well as luxury residential and hotel accommodation.
Stage one of the 15 year project will cost an estimated $300 million - due for completion by 2008. This will include the Darwin Convention Centre, entertainment and dining outlets, community infrastructure, a 141-room Medina hotel and 138 residential units. The complete project will include swimming facilities, parklands and picnic areas along with retail and dining outlets.
The project will include a further 1302 residential apartments to be built in subsequent stages. The stage one apartments have almost sold out with 90% of them going in the first weekend of sales.
