That’s the situation facing anybody looking to buy 313 Old Canterbury Road in Sydney’s Dulwich Hill after Marrickville Council forced the house to be sold at auction in attempt to recover more than five years of unpaid rates.
The three-bedroom, one bathroom bungalow sits on 440 square metres and is set to go under the hammer on Thursday, 27 August.

According to Fairfax Media, the house is expected to attract bids of up to $1.2 million.
Had the council forced the current occupant to allow inspections of the property that price could’ve have been significantly higher.
A spokeswoman from the council told Fairfax Media it had decided against that as they “did not want to add more stress to what is already a stressful situation.”
The property last sold in 2000 for $388,000.
