Local residents will benefit when Cromwell Property Group’s $130m Northpoint redevelopment, a three-level retail space, opens in 2018.
Northpoint Tower is slated to become a new commercial hub in a rejuvenated North Sydney area, with a number of commercial and retail buildings to be cleared from the area to make way for the proposed Victoria Cross Metro station, which is due to open in 2024.
The $8.3bn Sydney Metro Northwest (formerly the North West Rail Link) is more than halfway complete, with the 36km line due open in the first half of 2019. It will transport commuters via 15 trains an hour across 13 metro stations.
Stage 2, the Sydney Metro City & Southwest, is a 30km extension of metro rail from the end of Sydney’s Metro Northwest at Chatswood. New underground CBD stations, including the one at North Sydney, are expected to open in 2024.
Northpoint Tower will feature the 187-room Vibe Hotel North Sydney and an “eat-street” concept that will boast a combination of fast and slow food outlets.
Topping the hotel, quite literally, will be a new rooftop bar designed to cater to Sydney’s fast-growing and cosmopolitan professional population.
“Following the repurposing of a number of buildings in North Sydney from commercial to residential towers, the area craves a landmark retail and dining destination to service the increasing population in the area,” said Damian Horton, Cromwell’s head of property.
“Once completed, Northpoint Tower will fill this gap in quality retail and dining offering in North Sydney.”
