What would your tenants think if a Liberal government were elected? Close to a third of Australians believe they would be worse off financially if a Liberal government came to power.
According to an Essential Vision poll, 32% of respondents believe they would be worse off under a Liberal government, but an almost identical number (30%) believe they will be better off.
Around quarter (24%) believed a Liberal government would make no difference to them financially.
Respondents 65 and older were the most positive about the effect of a Liberal government on their finances – 47% responded that they would be richer.
On the other hand, those aged between 45 and 64 were more pessimistic. Forty per cent said they would be worse off under Tony Abbot and company.
The survey also revealed that 29% of everyday Australians expected their financial situation to improve over the next 12 months, while 31% thought the opposite.
