Your Investment Property has won the coveted REIQ Best Real Estate Report Award for 2013, a prestigious industry award for excellence in property journalism.
The award was handed to Deputy Editor Aidan Devine at a gala event in Brisbane on the weekend, an event also commemorating the Real Estate Institute of Queensland’s 95th birthday.
More than 550 people – including the Governor of Queensland, the Attorney-General and the Minister for Housing – attended the gala event, which incorporated other property industry awards for excellence, including, among others, Best Auctioneer and Best Property Manager.
The Best Real Estate Report Award was decided on the strength of a “body of work”, and was awarded to the journalist an elite panel of judges deemed to have contributed the most to excellence in real estate reporting last year.
Winner Aidan Devine said the award was an acknowledgement of Your Investment Property magazine’s commitment to providing investors with the highest quality information, news and insight on the property market.
“We’re Australia’s leading property investment magazine and it’s nice to be acknowledged for our hard work. Going ahead, this just reinforces our commitment to in-depth coverage of all the issues relevant to property investors across the entire country,” he said.
Held at the Hilton Brisbane, the night celebrated the REIQ’s long history as the peak professional association for real estate agents in Queensland. Highlights of the night included a 1920s-inspired flash mob of dancers and a dazzling indoor fireworks display.
REIQ CEO Anton Kardash said it was appropriate that the evening reflected on, as well as recognised, the many positive aspects of the real estate profession.
“When the REIQ was formed in 1918, its founding fathers made a commitment to improve the professionalism of those working in real estate,” he said. “Over the ensuing 95 years, the Institute has kept to this original promise.”
