Question: My husband and I are in our early sixties and want to retire in 10 years. We haven’t invested in anything for our retirement, other than compulsory super. This scares us. We’d like to invest in property, but one doubt hangs over us: have we left it too late?
Answer: Definitely not. No matter what stage of life you are at, by setting goals now and planning ahead, you will prepare yourself for whatever opportunities and obstacles that may present themselves along the way.
For most mature people, the greatest fear is that they will live longer than their money. Poverty is a commonly held fear amongst more than 90% of Australians; the main reasons people do nothing about tackling their fear of poverty is indecision, doubt, worry and procrastination.
Conquer your fear and visit a Financial Advisor. Their job is to understand what your personal situation is, and what your goals and ambitions are. They will do a 'financial assessment' of your current situation, and will help you set up a budget to determine how much you can afford to borrow.
