Cam McLellan had a difficult start in life. After his parents lost everything when he was a child, his family had to move into a shed on his grandparents’ property.
It was by chance that, in his early teens, he stumbled upon an old video of Jan Somers that pointed him in a different direction in life.
“Investing in houses was something I could understand, something I could stay in line about,” he says.
He bought his first and favourite property in 1999. “I was earning $22,000 a year.
By the time I signed the contract three months later, the property had increased in value by over $20,000. That was my light-bulb moment.”
Nearly two decades later, not only has McLellan been able to leave the rat race to direct his own company, OpenCorp, but he’s also opened his own production company in Hollywood, which recently premiered its first feature film. In April 2017, McLellan’s production company debuted its first horror film at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
“Property investing for me was not about money or material things but about providing me with a lifestyle where I could spend as much time with my kids and family, doing the things I love and enjoying the world for what it is.”
