Your Investment Property has delved into the data to reveal the cheapest capital city suburbs within 20km of each of our capital city’s CBDs. And guess what? 54 of them have median prices that are less than $300,000.
The cheapest suburb on the list was Herdsmans Cove, 16km from the general post office (GPO) in Hobart, where the median house price sits at just $140,000 according to RP Data’s February figures. In fact, half of the suburbs in Hobart’s top 10 recorded median prices of less than $200,000.
At the other end of the scale, Darwin only has one suburb within 20km of the GPO in the sub-$300,000 category, with its most expensive listing in the top 10 – and the most expensive of all the top 10s – being units in Rapid Creek ($382,000).
Read on for the state-by-state top 10s.
